Walking Tours
The atmospheric remains of Intramuros, Chinatown and Quiapo are best toured on foot. An enterprising history buff named Carlos Celdran has gained a cult following for his historical walking tours of the old Manila. Celdran's flair for storytelling vividly recreates the old grandeur of Manila that even locals appreciate and makes the low-cost ticket an absolute bargain. You can make bookings through Celdran's blog (website: http://celdrantours.blogspot.com).

The Intramuros Visitors Centre in Fort Santiago (tel: (02) 527 2961) and other tourist offices and hotels in town carry leaflets detailing the points of interest of Intramuros for walkers who wish to arrange their own itinerary. They also host free guided Intramuros walking tours of 30, 60 and 120 minutes, starting at the centre with an exhibition and audio-visual presentation.

The Department of Tourism also offers walking tours around Intramuros (tel: (02) 525 1255 or 9318 ext. 244, 268 or 250; website: www.tourism.gov.ph/wow/walk_our_walls.asp).

Bus Tours
Bus tours are rare within Metro Manila and are often for out-of-town trips in the outlying provinces. For details of bus tours, visit the Department of Tourism website (www.tourism.gov.ph).
