A wide variety of tours is offered by the tourist office and its guides. There are daily guided tours of Bern's famous clock tower throughout the summer season. They give a fascinating insight into 16th-century technology and are highly recommended. Guided walking tours through the Old Town are available every Saturday from November to March and daily from April to November. They include all the tourist sights as well as lesser-known jewels throughout the city's UNESCO World Heritage Site. Tours that are available upon request include a bus tour of the city for groups and trips along the river in inflatable boats. An iPod audioguide is also available. For more information, contact the Tourist Information Centre, Bahnhofplatz 10A at the railway station (tel: (031) 328 1212; website: www.berninfo.com). For a short introduction to Bern's history, visit the information centre by the Bear Pits, where a 20-minute 3D presentation will give you a snapshot of the city's past and present.
