Walking Tours
There are daily city centre walking tours conducted by members of the Oxford Guild of Guides and leaving from the Tourist Information Centre on Broad Street (tel: (01865) 726 871; website: www.oxford.gov.uk/tourism/oic.cfm). They last two hours and include admission to colleges open to the guides on the particular day.
The Oxford Past and Present tour takes place twice daily all year round, while the Christ Church tour is limited to Saturdays only. Ghost tours are offered on Friday and Saturday evenings from June until the end of September. Inspector Morse walking tours take place on Saturdays.
There are occasional Harry Potter walks, too, since some scenes in the films were shot in Oxford. Queries about these should be directed to the Information Centre.
Numbers for all walking tours are limited to 19, and tickets are sold at the Information Centre on a first-come first-served basis.
Literary walking tours operate from Blackwell's Bookshop (tel: (01865) 333 606) in Broad Street.
Visitors who prefer to explore the city all on their own can download three Oxford MP3 walking tours from Tourist Track (website: www.tourist-tracks.com) or hire pre-loaded MP3 players at the Oxford Information Centre.
