Belgrade City Guide - Shopping

Belgraders like to look good and the range of shops reflects this. The main shopping area is based around the wide, pedestrianised Kneza Mihaila where visitors can find many of the Western European high street chains with prices pretty much on a par with what you'd expect to pay elsewhere in Europe.

Far more interesting are the markets, craft stalls and one-off boutiques that can be found in various locations around Belgrade. There are a couple of lively markets that are worth a look simply to try one or two of the local delicacies or to pick up fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables; try Palilulska Market off Takovska in the east of the city or Kalenić Market in the south of the city close to St Sava's Temple.

The Ethnographic Museum on Studentski offers a good range of locally-produced arts and crafts as does the souvenir shop at the Kalemegdan Information Centre by the Outer Stambol Gate.
