Other Recommendations

Gardner's Waterland Lodge
Although situated about 20 minutes from the city centre, Gardner's Waterland Lodge is nestled in the wonderful yet often overlooked Hout Bay valley - a suburb so self-sufficient, with its very own harbour, beach, bars and restaurants, that the locals call it the Republic of Hout Bay. Accommodation consists of four self-catering cottages and six bed & breakfast units (five suites and one room) in the main lodge. The cottages, sporting heavy wood, crisp white linen and wild African prints, come with separate braai (barbecue) areas, TVs and fully-equipped kitchens - for guests who want to be completely independent on holiday. Guests who prefer having their breakfast cooked for them in the morning can stay in the homely rooms in the main house. Breakfast is served in the conservatory overlooking the gorgeous swimming pool, which all guests have access to, with wrap-around views of the surrounding mountains forming a dramatic backdrop.
