Some hotels arrange a car and private guide, or have scheduled visits to the city as part of their entertainment programme. No travel agent seems to offers a city tour by bus, partly because the city is pretty easy to get around, but Carthage Tours (tel: (071) 344 066; website: www.carthage-tours.com) can arrange tours with a private guide and car. These take in the medina, the Bardo Museum, Carthage and end in Sidi Bou Said, which makes for a very long day.
