Nice City Guide - Getting There By Road

While high-speed trains (TGV) generally remain the quickest way around France, the road network is also good with a number of highways on hand to connect Nice with the rest of the country. The A8 heads westwards towards Marseille, and eastwards towards the Italian border. The N98 takes a more scenic coastal route east, while the 202 cuts north through the mountains. The main bus station (gare routière) is on the edge of the city centre at 5 boulevard Jean Jaurès. One of the main long distance bus companies is Intercars (tel: (04) 93 80 08 70; website: www.intercars.fr). Services run to many major French towns and cities as well as to the neighbouring countries.

Emergency breakdown service:

SOS Dépannage (tel: (04) 97 00 03 33).
