Nice's nightlife runs the whole gamut from grungy backpacker bars in the old town through to glitzy nightclubs where the rich and beautiful descend to see and be seen. In short, there is something for everyone in the city centre. Cours Saleya is worth visiting for its outdoor market, but at night it also comes alive with bars and cafes. Thor, at 32 cours Saleya, is a raucous option, popular with the expat and student crowds. It has live folk music early on which is replaced by loud live rock later. A little more sophisticated are La Suite, 2 rue Brea, Le Lafayette, 63 rue Gioffredo and Le Ghost, 3 rue de la Barillerie, the latter with its live DJs and tempting array of cocktails. The club scene peaks in summer and during the Carnival, with hot spots including Barrio Latino at 73 quai des Etats Unis, which has suitably Latino sounds. Le Klub, 6 rue Halevy, is not only the city's best gay club, but it is its best club full stop.
