Stuttgart occupies a very central geographical position in Europe, and is served well by road connections. Four autobahns (motorways) converge on the city, providing fast links from Frankfurt, Zürich, Karlsruhe and Munich. Frankfurt is 205km (122 miles) to the north, and Munich lies 220km (137 miles) to the south east. Parking is widely available throughout the city centre, both on-street and in multi-storey garages. A serviced site for camper vans is available at Cannstatter Wasen, on the east side of the city.

Emergency breakdown services:
Allgemeine Deutsche Automobil Club (ADAC) (tel: (0180) 222 2222).
ACE (tel: (0180) 234 3536).

Deutsche Touring Gmbh (tel: (711) 273 0962; website: www.deutsche-touring.de) operates intercity and international scheduled coach services to and from Stuttgart. The main bus terminal is adjacent to the central station.
