Seville City Guide - Getting Around

Tours in Seville

Public Transport

Seville is a relatively compact city and its major attractions are all within walking distance. However, a reliable bus service does operate in and around the city. These are run by TUSSAM (tel: 902 459 954; website: www.tussam.es), with 45 different lines. The most useful for visitors are the C1-C5 circular lines operating through the city centre.

Buses run from around 0600 until 2345 in winter, 2400 in summer. After these times a night service operates on the hour until 0200. On Fridays and Saturdays extra buses run from 0300 until 0600. Single tickets are available from the driver, though a Bonobus ticket entitles you to 10 journeys (including transfers within one hour), which works out much cheaper. Other passes for discounted travel are available and can be bought in advance from tobacconists, kiosks and TUSSAM ticket offices.

Taxis

Reliable companies include Tele Taxi (tel: 95 462 2222), Radio Taxi Giralda (tel: 95 467 5555) and Radio Taxi (tel: 95 458 0000).

Car Hire

Car hire companies in Spain often charge supplements for drivers under the age of 25. A valid passport is required for proof of identity.

Along with several smaller car hire agencies, the following major companies provide car hire in Seville: Atesa (tel: 902 100 515; website: www.atesa.es), Avis (tel: 902 180 854; website: www.avis.es), Europcar (tel: 913 434 512; website: www.europcar.es) and Hertz (tel: 95 451 4720; website: www.hertz.es).

Bicycle Hire

Keep away from the busy main roads and Seville is a good city to explore by bike. Sevici (tel: 902 011 032; website: www.sevici.es) is an official bike hire scheme promoted by the JC Decaux company who supply bicycles to the city free of charge, in exchange for the right to use the bikes and the stations for advertising. A deposit is payable but hire rates are very cheap.

Conventional bicycle hire companies include Cyclotour, Parque de Maria Luisa, Avenida de Hernan Cortes (tel: 95 427 4566) who also hire canopied quadracycles. You can rent scooters on a daily basis from Rentamoto, Calle Padre Mendez Casariego 19 (tel: 95 441 7500; website: www.rentamoto.net).

Horse-drawn Carriages
An easier way to see the sights of the city is to hire a horse-drawn carriage by the hour. Hop aboard at one of a number of stops including Cabo Noval, Plaza Virgen de los Reyes, Plaza del Triunfo, Puerta de Jerez and the Torre del Oro. Agree on a price before you go anywhere.
