Hotel Virxe Da Cerca  
Housed in a historical building, this characterful hotel is a good choice for those who are not prepared to compromise on style, comfort or charm when travelling for business. Facilities are not as expansive as they would be at a bigger hotel, but still include Internet and fax and a meeting room accommodating up to 10 people.

Puerta del Camino  
Located beside the Conference Centre, this is a big modern hotel offering an array of facilities. There are 160 rooms and eight suites, all fully equipped with individual safe, digital TV, minibar, air con etc. There is also an executive floor, banqueting and conference facilities (10 meeting rooms with total capacity for up to 800 people), a restaurant, a piano-bar, a cafe, a garage and a swimming pool.

Luxury

AC Palacio del Carmen  
Located in an old convent, the Convento de las Oblatas, this luxury hotel oozes charm and atmosphere. The Palacio del Carmen boasts 74 rooms and four suites, all with air con, free mini bar, satellite, digital TV and Internet. The hotel also has five meeting rooms, a fitness room, a swimming pool, a very good restaurant, a sauna and Turkish baths, as well as romantic gardens.

Hotel Parador Reyes Catolicos  
This magnificent hotel, one of the best in the country, is located in the heart of the city, right on the Praza do Obradoiro, between Santiago's splendid cathedral and the Galician president's headquarters. Beautiful rooms (each individually decorated with period furniture and fine fabrics), great facilities and exquisite service will make you feel you're being treated like royalty.

Moderate

Hostal Alfonso  
A stone's throw from the cathedral, this is by far the best budget budget place to stay in the city centre. The inn has a family atmosphere, with cosy rooms and friendly service. There are only six rooms here (all en suite and with TV) so book well in advance.

San Martin Pinario Monastery  
Follow in the pilgrims' footsteps and spend a night or two in a monastery. San Martin Binario (a listed historical monument) is located opposite the north door of the cathedral in Praza Azabachería, in the heart of the old city. The seminary, which is open for tourists in summer from July to September, provides 126 rooms, all with private bathrooms and showers.

Hotel Residencia Costa Vella  
Located in a quiet street above the Convento de San Francisco, close to one of the seven doors leading into the old medieval city, this small, charming hotel boasts comfy, cosy bedrooms and a peaceful garden. A real Galician home from home, you will feel warmly welcomed here. Excellent value for money and thoroughly recommended.

Airas Nunes Hotel 
Airas Nunes occupies the premises of a large 13th-century building and has splendid views over the cathedral's towers and surrounding roofs.
