Business

Doubletree HotelSan Francisco Airport
Ideally situated just 10 minutes from San Francisco Airport with excellent views of scenic San Francisco Bay, the Doubletree is especially popular for business travellers and conventions. Complimentary 24-hour airport shuttles link travellers with the BART station at the airport for direct transport to Downtown San Francisco. European style rooms and suites are spacious, with in-room coffee makers, cable TV, CD players and wireless HSIA. Room service is available 0630-2400. The cosy Chutney Lounge is a good spot for a late night drink. Guests have complimentary use of the business facilities and neighbouring pool and fitness centre. The bayside jogging trail is a refreshing change from city centre hotels. Versatile meeting and banquet space will accommodate groups of 10-250, with an outdoor courtyard popular for receptions and parties. The hotel is pet-friendly and also provides pet kennels.

Harbor Court Hotel
Few hotels can rival Harbor Court’s up-close view of the San Francisco Bay Bridge. Perched on the city’s eastern coastline, the 131 waterfront rooms provide spectacular sunrise vistas for those early morning business meetings. Each room contains an entertainment centre, a fax machine, a two-line telephone, a modem point and a moderately sized sitting room with a small table. Rooms combine traditional and contemporary furnishings, and some beds are canopied. Windows are double-glazed to block out traffic noise. Guests receive complimentary use of the adjoining athletic facilities. Two expansive convention and business venues located within walking distance can be reserved through the hotel. The Ozumo Japanese restaurant next door is a popular venue for business lunches. Valet parking, which tends to be pricey in San Francisco, is recommended due to city parking restrictions.

Hyatt Regency San Francisco
Regarded as one of San Francisco’s premier conference centres, the Hyatt Regency at the Embarcadero Centre is centrally located in a major retail and business complex. Numerous upscale restaurants are accessible by foot or local transportation. Luxury

Mandarin Oriental, San Francisco
Travellers stay here for work or pleasure. All guest rooms at this luxury hotel located in the city’s third tallest building have exquisite panoramic views of San Francisco and the waterfront (in-room binoculars are provided for peering out at the cable cars below). The hotel group is famous for its exotic surroundings, which include sophisticated Asian touches presented in a modern style, 260-thread-count Frette Egyptian cotton sheets, and marble bathrooms with deep soaking tubs. Hotel Monaco

Hotel Diva
Travellers who associate contemporary hotels with stark white decor and a surgical air to match may be surprised by the burst of colour that Hotel Diva adds to the landscape of modern lodgings. Orchard Hotel
One of San Francisco’s newest upscale boutique hotels, the Orchard is just two blocks from Union Square on the Powell Street Cable Car Line and close to Nob Hill. Super 8
This popular American motel chain caters to travellers who want clean, comfortable accommodation but are not concerned with personalised hotel services. All rooms and suites are furnished in a simple style and have the same basic facilities, including complimentary local telephone calls, coffee maker and hairdryer, however, the suites are larger. Jacuzzi rooms available. A Continental breakfast is included in the price, as well as in-room tea and coffee. Situated a short walk from the Presidio and Fisherman’s Wharf, the hotel is close to dozens of restaurants. Parking is free on a first come first serve basis.

MacArthur Place
