Room rates incur a sales tax of 5% and a service charge of 10% which are usually added to the bill at the end of a stay. Some hotels also charge a nominal tourist tax per night. Tips to individual members of staff are made at the guest's discretion. Tourists planning to visit Rio during Carnival or New Year should book well in advance and bear in mind that many hotels raise prices during these periods.

In the hub of Rio's commercial district, this is a reliable and reasonably priced option for the business traveller. Although the building is a shiny high-rise, the more than 500 rooms are functional rather than luxurious. There is a convention and business centre; leisure facilities include a rooftop pool and terrace with fine views of Guanabara Bay. The restaurant serves up extravagant buffet meals, as well as à la carte Brazilian and international cuisine.
